New Students Class
is for those with no experience in Japanese Embroidery. Simple techniques introduce the novice to basic embroidery concepts.
All Phases Class
is for experienced students whom are working on new or ongoing projects classified at phase levels I-XX. The student's embroidering skills are developed through formal instruction in new techniques.
Open Class
is an extra time for JEC
members intermediate and above to bring in their ongoing work. A teacher is present to help as needed, but there will be no formal instruction and new phases cannot be started.
These sessions are not designed to replace basic class time.
Phase X Class
reviews all of the
techniques learned in the previous nine phases. Phase X is available to students who have completed phases I-IX.
Teachers Class
open only to students who have attended Phase X class at the Center, represents the
embroiderer's attainment to teacher level.
Advanced Class
introduces
the Phase X student to more challenging designs. Available to all students who have completed the first ten phases.
Bead Class
teaches a
companion art to the traditional embroidery classes we offer. Through the integration of beads into the fabric of Japanese embroidery design, the pupil adapts his or her embroidering skills to the creation of beautiful beadwork projects.
Open to all students.
Young Students Class
is an introductory course intended to pass on to the next generation the thousand-year old tradition of nuidoTM ("Way of Embroidery"). A focused atmosphere for study is maintained and parental participation is encouraged. Open to the children and grandchildren of current JEC members. Please contact us to find out if your child is eligible for our Young Students Class.
The class day is from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM, including one hour for lunch. Please bring a sack lunch!
